Israeli Strikes Kill 13 in Gaza Amid Ceasefire Talks

Gaza: (News Desk) – At least 13 people were killed in Israeli strikes across the Gaza Strip on Sunday, according to local authorities, as diplomatic efforts to reach a ceasefire continued.

Gaza’s Civil Defence said the overnight and daytime attacks struck several residential buildings in Gaza City, Khan Younis, Deir al-Balah, Jabalia, and central Gaza. The reported casualties included women and children, while several others were injured in the strikes.

The developments came after Hamas announced it had agreed to the latest phase of a US-backed proposal that reportedly includes provisions for disarmament and a phased Israeli military withdrawal from Gaza. Israel has not officially endorsed the proposal, with an Israeli political source saying any withdrawal would depend on what it described as Hamas’s “genuine disarmament.”

Hamas official Ghazi Hamad accused Israel of undermining negotiations through continued military operations. Meanwhile, Nickolay Mladenov, High Representative of the Board of Peace overseeing the US-backed initiative, said the latest violence had complicated ongoing diplomatic efforts and urged all parties to uphold their commitments under the proposed plan.
