Election Commission grants approval to international observers’ code of conduct

ECP fixes case to remove PTI chief from party leadership,

ISLAMABAD – The Election Commission of Pakistan on Tuesday granted approval to the code of conduct of international observers.

The ECP session was headed by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja in which senior officials including secretary and members of ECP participated.

On the occasion, the CEC also gave approval to the international observers’ code of code of conduct and also convened a session in this regard on October 16.

The ECP expressed satisfaction on the arrangements related to elections while the CEC also mentioned all matters to be sorted out for elections,

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday unfrozen the voter lists, opening up the opportunity for voters to modify, augment, transfer, or rectify their voting details until Oct 25.

Previously, after the constituencies were reorganised, the electoral watchdog had announced that elections would take place by January 2024.

In an effort to enhance voter engagement, the Election Commission extended the period during which voter lists can be modified for approximately one month. This period allows eligible citizens to register, revise, transfer, or rectify their voter information until Oct 25.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday issued the schedule of upcoming cases including the petition to remove the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman from the party headship and to withdraw the party’s symbol (bat).

The preliminary hearing for removal of the PTI Chairman from his position will be held on October 10.

Khalid Mahmood Khan had filed a petition requesting the PTI chief’s removal, while Muhammad Aun Saqlain called for the withdrawal of the party symbol.

The Election Commission has sent notices to the petitioners and will conduct the initial hearing for both cases on the next date.
