IESCO Intensifies Safety Measures to Prevent Electrical Accidents
Protecting Lives and Property Central to IESCO’s Safety Strategy
ISLAMABAD: (Staff Reporter) – The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting human lives and property by strengthening safety measures aimed at preventing electrical accidents and ensuring a safe and reliable electricity supply.
IESCO Chief Executive Engineer Chaudhry Khalid Mahmood said that the protection of consumers’ lives and property remains the company’s top priority. He added that comprehensive and sustained measures were being implemented under the leadership of the chairman and members of the IESCO Board of Directors, contributing to a significant reduction in electrical accidents over the past few years.
As part of its ongoing safety drive, IESCO management has launched an extensive operation to address hazardous electrical installations, including hanging electricity wires, power lines passing close to residential buildings and other structures, and weakened electricity poles.
The initiative also involves repairing unsafe electrical installations and relocating them to safer locations wherever necessary. IESCO is bearing the expenses of these safety measures to protect consumers and ensure an uninterrupted and secure electricity supply.
The company has urged consumers to promptly report hanging wires, dangerous electricity poles and other unsafe electrical installations in residential areas, streets, markets and public places to their respective Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) offices.
IESCO management said timely reporting would help the company take immediate corrective action and prevent potential accidents.
Consumers have also been advised to avoid construction beneath electricity wires or near electrical installations to reduce the risk of accidents.
In case of an emergency, consumers should immediately contact their relevant IESCO complaint office or call the company’s helpline at **118** for prompt assistance.
