Ford Halts F-150 Production at Detroit-Area Plant

DETROIT: (News Desk) – Ford Motor Co. has suspended production of its best-selling F-150 pickup truck at a Detroit-area plant for nearly a week, according to a company memo reviewed by Reuters.

The memo said all production crews at Ford’s Dearborn Truck Plant were canceled from Thursday through Tuesday, September 29.

The disruption has also affected F-150 production at other Ford facilities. Some shifts at the company’s Kansas City Assembly Plant were canceled this week due to the same issue affecting the Dearborn facility, according to a person familiar with the matter.

Meanwhile, Ford’s Kentucky Truck Plant near Louisville has increased F-150 production to help offset output lost at other facilities, the person said.

The production adjustments come as Ford manages disruptions affecting one of its most important vehicle lines, with plants in different locations being used to balance production and limit the impact on overall F-150 output.
