Pakistan Embassy Paris Honors Defence Day Martyrs

PARIS: (News Desk) –  The Embassy of Pakistan in Paris hosted a reception to commemorate Defence and Martyrs Day, paying tribute to the martyrs and veterans of the country’s Armed Forces.

The event was attended by Senator Allizard, members of the diplomatic corps, officers of the Armed Forces and several friends of Pakistan.

Welcoming the guests, Ambassador Mumtaz Zahra Baloch paid homage to the martyrs and veterans for their service and sacrifices. She said Pakistan’s Armed Forces remain the guarantors of national security, while the nation continues to stand firmly alongside its defenders.

The ambassador recalled Pakistan’s determined defence during the 1965 war and highlighted the Armed Forces’ response to Indian aggression in May last year, describing it as resolute, precise and professional.

She also highlighted Pakistan’s longstanding contribution to regional and international peace, particularly through its participation in United Nations peacekeeping missions.

Ambassador Baloch noted that Pakistan’s national defence over the past two decades has extended beyond conventional warfare to include the fight against terrorism. She said the Armed Forces, law-enforcement personnel and ordinary citizens have made enormous sacrifices in confronting the threat.

She reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to international cooperation, dialogue and international law, saying the country believes in building partnerships to advance global peace, security and development.

The ambassador stressed that Pakistan does not seek conflict and wants peaceful and mutually respectful relations with all its neighbours. However, she made clear that Pakistan would not compromise on its national defence.

She further said lasting peace in South Asia requires the Jammu and Kashmir dispute to be resolved in accordance with relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
