Australian Envoy Explores Faisalabad’s History at Lyallpur Museum

FAISALABAD: (News Desk) – Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan Timothy Kane visited the Lyallpur Museum in Faisalabad and took a keen interest in the city’s rich history, culture and heritage.

Lyallpur Museum Director Maqbool Malik, along with museum officials and staff, welcomed the Australian envoy during his visit. Malik accompanied Kane through the museum’s 10 galleries and provided an overview of Faisalabad’s history, civilization, traditions and cultural heritage.

The Australian diplomat showed particular interest in the historical artefacts, artworks, antiquities and other exhibits displayed at the museum. He was also briefed on Faisalabad’s renowned textile heritage and the city’s transformation from its former identity as Lyallpur to the modern-day Faisalabad.

During the visit, Kane highlighted the potential for greater cultural cooperation between Pakistan and Australia. He said museums in both countries could strengthen ties through joint exhibitions, expert exchanges and cultural programmes.

The Australian High Commissioner also praised the people of Faisalabad for their hospitality, courtesy and friendly nature.

At the conclusion of the visit, Maqbool Malik presented Kane with a commemorative souvenir on behalf of the Lyallpur Museum.
