Somali NIRA Delegation Visits NADRA to Strengthen Partnership
ISLAMABAD: (News Desk) – A high-level delegation from Somalia’s National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA), led by Director General Abdiwali Ali Abdulle, visited the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to further strengthen the partnership between the two organisations.
The visit, facilitated by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), was also attended by UNDP Pakistan Resident Representative Samuel Rizk and Deputy Resident Representative Van Nguyen.
The Somali delegation was welcomed by the NADRA chairman and briefed on Pakistan’s identity management systems and digital public infrastructure.
During the meeting, both sides highlighted the importance of reliable identity systems as a key component of national infrastructure. They noted that effective identity and registration mechanisms can strengthen the relationship between citizens and the state while supporting civic participation, financial inclusion and public trust.
The two organisations also discussed potential areas for further cooperation aimed at improving identity management and civil registration systems in both Pakistan and Somalia.
Both sides appreciated the UNDP’s role in promoting South-South cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those focused on legal identity and civil registration.
