Hammad Azhar Arrested by Police in Multan

Lahore: (Staff Reporter)  – Police have arrested former Member of the National Assembly and former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Punjab president Hammad Azhar, according to police sources.

Sources said Azhar was taken into custody in Multan before being handed over to Lahore Police. Authorities say he faces multiple cases linked to the May 9, 2023 incidents.

Azhar had remained wanted by police since the May 9 unrest, according to police sources. He reportedly surfaced following the death of his father but later went into hiding again.

The arrest comes amid continued legal proceedings involving several PTI leaders and workers accused in cases stemming from the May 9 violence.
