ISLAMABAD: (Showbiz Desk) – Actor Ali Ansari has defended host Nadia Khan following criticism and social media trolling over her remarks about a running scene featuring his sister-in-law, actor Sajal Aly.
The discussion took place on a morning show hosted by Zohaib Hassan, where Nadia and Ali addressed the controversy surrounding her comments. The conversation highlighted how remarks by experienced industry figures can sometimes be interpreted as personal criticism when they are actually focused on technical aspects of a production.
Ali, who shares a close relationship with both women, described Sajal as family and said he has known Nadia for years. He characterised Nadia as a lively and spontaneous person who often speaks openly during conversations.
According to Ali, Nadia’s comments were not intended as a personal attack on Sajal. He stressed that reviews and opinions are subjective and that viewers and artists may naturally have different perspectives.
Nadia later clarified that she was not questioning Sajal’s acting ability. Instead, she was commenting on what she believed were technical shortcomings in the scene, particularly its editing and sound design.
She explained that the heavy breathing heard during the sequence did not appear to match Sajal’s movements and the pace of the visuals. Nadia maintained that her observation was directed at the execution of the scene rather than Sajal’s performance.
She also pointed out that she has praised Sajal and rated her work highly on several occasions when she felt it was deserved.
Ali further criticised the way social media pages often present celebrity controversies, saying lengthy discussions can be reduced to short clips that strip away context and make comments appear more provocative.
Nadia added that online backlash has become a familiar part of her public life, saying she has faced trolling even when praising other actresses, including Durefishan Saleem.
