At Least 81 US Military Aircraft Damaged or Destroyed in Iran Operations

TEHRAN: (News Desk) – At least 81 US military aircraft were damaged or destroyed during operations against Iran, according to a Congressional Research Service (CRS) report.

The report said the losses involved US fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles, with several aircraft either destroyed or damaged during the operations.

According to the CRS, MQ-9 Reaper drones suffered the largest losses, with at least 45 drones reportedly lost during operations against Iran.

The report stated that three aircraft were destroyed by friendly fire in Kuwait in March, while another F-15E aircraft was lost over Iran in April.

It further noted that eight F-15 fighter aircraft were damaged during an Iranian attack on a Jordanian airbase in September. The damaged aircraft were subsequently repaired and returned to service.

The CRS report also recorded damage to one F-35A Lightning II fighter jet, two A-10 Thunderbolt II aircraft and seven KC-135 aerial refuelling aircraft.

The disclosure highlights the extent of US military aircraft losses and damage associated with operations involving Iran, including incidents involving combat, attacks and friendly fire.
