Trump Criticises South Korea Over Iran War Stance

Trump Expresses Displeasure With South Korea Over Iran War Decision

WASHINGTON: (News Desk) – US President Donald Trump has expressed disappointment with South Korea over its decision not to join US efforts against Iran, saying Seoul declined his request to participate in the “denuclearization” of the Islamic Republic.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said he had recently asked the South Korean president whether Seoul wanted to join Washington in efforts to denuclearize Iran, but received a negative response.

Trump also said the Pentagon had ordered a reduction in the scale of military exercises conducted with South Korea. Although the exercises could no longer be cancelled, he said he was unhappy that the United States had agreed to hold them in the first place.

According to Trump, the exercises are costly and send what he described as an unnecessarily aggressive message to North Korea. He argued that Pyongyang had not threatened the United States during his presidency and had maintained a respectful relationship with Washington.

Trump further said that North Korea currently has a “very good relationship” with its leader Kim Jong Un.
