PARIS: (News Desk) – Pakistan and France have reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation and dialogue while working jointly to advance the principles of multilateralism.

The understanding was reached during the Pakistan-France Consultations on Multilateral Affairs held in Paris on Friday. The Pakistani delegation was headed by Special Secretary (United Nations) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Nabeel Munir, while the French delegation was led by Nathalie Broadhurst, Director for the United Nations, International Organisations, Human Rights and Francophonie at France’s Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

During the consultations, the two sides discussed a range of international issues, including UN80, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Financing for Development.

Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to multilateralism and the principles and objectives enshrined in the United Nations Charter. They also exchanged assessments of recent regional and global developments.

Pakistan and France agreed to enhance coordination in multilateral forums, particularly at the United Nations, on matters relating to international peace and security.

The two sides further agreed to convene the next round of Pakistan-France Consultations on Multilateral Affairs in Islamabad, with the dates to be finalised through mutual consultation.
