Rabat: (News Desk) – Moroccan woman footballer Faten Ben Omar Al Azizi has tragically died after drowning while attempting to cross the sea to reach the Spanish enclave of Ceuta, according to local media reports.

Al Azizi, who previously represented Moghreb Athletic Tétouan, reportedly lost her life during the dangerous sea journey after an accident occurred en route. Her sudden death has left the Moroccan football community, particularly in the northern city of Tangier, in mourning.

Reports indicate that she was attempting to reach Ceuta through an irregular maritime route, which has become increasingly used by migrants despite the significant risks involved.

In recent weeks, attempts to reach Ceuta from northern Morocco have reportedly increased, with rough sea conditions and hazardous crossings leading to multiple fatalities.
