Sindh Teachers’ Digital System Faces Problems in First Phase

Karachi: (Staff Reporter) – The Sindh School Education Department’s newly launched digital system has encountered technical challenges during its initial phase, affecting teachers’ facial attendance registration, appointments, and transfer procedures.

The face-recognition-based attendance system, developed by the department’s IT section and scheduled to begin on August 1, has been delayed after thousands of teachers failed to complete the required digital registration process. More than 10,000 teachers reportedly remain unable to register for the biometric attendance mechanism.

The e-portal introduced for teacher appointments and transfers has also faced criticism, with over 2,000 transfer and appointment orders reportedly coming under scrutiny. Concerns were raised after teachers were assigned to schools in Hyderabad despite the city being declared a “red zone” under the transfer policy.

The technical issues have caused delays in the second phase of online appointments and transfers, affecting the Human Resources wing of the School Education Department. Officials have called for improvements to ensure the system works efficiently and achieves its goal of transparency.

IT officials said online processing of appointments and transfers was introduced to reduce administrative costs and improve efficiency, adding that technical difficulties are common during the early stages of new digital platforms. Teacher organizations have also urged authorities to fix the issues rather than discontinue the initiative.
