KARACHI: (Staff Reporter) – Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah has clarified that teaching activities will continue six days a week only in government schools across the province from August 1, 2026.
The clarification came after the Sindh School Education Department recently issued a notification stating that both government and private schools would reopen from August 1 and follow a six-day teaching schedule.
Addressing the confusion through his official social media account, the education minister explained that the notification applies only to government schools. He said all public sector schools in Sindh will observe a six-day academic week as announced by the School Education Department.
Syed Sardar Ali Shah further stated that private educational institutions are not bound by the government’s weekly working schedule. Instead, private schools will remain free to determine their own operating days and working hours according to their internal policies.
