ANP leader Swat attack targets Mumtaz Ali Khan's home in Matta, injuring Rescue 1122 staff
Upper Swat – (Web Desk) – At least five people were hurt in an ANP leader Swat attack after unknown gunmen opened fire on the home of Mumtaz Ali Khan in Matta tehsil, Upper Swat.
Three of the injured were Rescue 1122 personnel, officials confirmed. The attack happened in Shakardara village, where Khan serves as the local ANP leader and party vice president.
Police said the attackers used both light and heavy weapons during the assault. The house came under direct fire for several minutes before the gunmen fled the scene.
Besides the rescue workers, a passerby and Abrar Khan, a close relative of Mumtaz Ali Khan, were also among the injured.
All victims were first taken to THQ Hospital in Matta for treatment. Doctors later referred one Rescue 1122 worker and Abrar Khan to Saidu Sharif Hospital due to the severity of their injuries.
News of the attack quickly spread fear through the area. Police responded with a heavy deployment, sealing off the locality and starting a search for the attackers.
Officials say an investigation has been launched, and they are looking into every possible motive behind the shooting.
Local sources say this isn’t the first close call for Mumtaz Ali Khan. He has reportedly survived several assassination attempts over the years. This time too, he escaped unharmed.
