Colombia Ghana 1-0 World Cup Win Sends Los Cafeteros Into Knockout Stage
Colombia vs Ghana – (Web Desk) – Colombia Ghana 1-0 World Cup clash ended with a hard-fought win for the South Americans, sending them into the last 16 of the tournament. The match, played under intense heat in Kansas City, saw Jhon Arias score the only goal of the night.
Arias found the net in the 14th minute. He guided a cross from substitute Luis Suarez into the bottom corner, giving his team an early lead they never let go.
The goal came from an unlikely partnership. Suarez had only just entered the game after starter Jhon Cordoba went off with a groin problem in the eighth minute. Minutes later, his pinpoint delivery found Arias completely unmarked at the back post.
Colombia dominated large parts of the match. Luis Diaz created several chances of his own, including a goal that was ruled out for offside early in the second half.
Ghana goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi kept his side in the contest with a string of strong saves late on. Despite pressure from Antoine Semenyo, Ghana’s defense could not find an equalizer.
With this win, Colombia became the fourth South American nation to reach the last 16, joining Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay. They now turn their attention to Switzerland, with the next match set for Tuesday in Vancouver.
The Kansas City stadium felt like a home game for Colombia, as thousands of fans in yellow jerseys filled the stands, singing and cheering through the heat to push their team forward.
