Justice Akhtar Begins Acting Tenure as Chief Justice Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Senior Puisne Judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Munib Akhtar, has assumed the responsibilities of Acting Chief Justice of Pakistan after taking oath on Monday.

The oath was administered by Justice Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui during a formal ceremony held at the Supreme Court’s Karachi Registry. The event was attended by senior judges of the Supreme Court, judges from the Federal Constitutional Court, and other top judicial officials.

Justice Akhtar will serve as Acting Chief Justice for the duration of Chief Justice Yahya Afridi’s official visit abroad. During this period, he will carry out both judicial and administrative duties associated with the office.

The ceremony was witnessed by members of the superior judiciary, court administrators, and Supreme Court staff, reflecting the formal transition of temporary leadership within the country’s top court.

The proceedings concluded after the oath was officially administered, marking the beginning of Justice Akhtar’s acting tenure.
