Trump Signs Hard Copy of Iran Agreement at Versailles Palace

Trump Signs Iran Agreement Versailles — A New Chapter in Middle East Peace

Trump signs Iran agreement Versailles, marking one of the biggest diplomatic moments of 2026. US President Donald Trump officially signed a memorandum of understanding with Iran during a dinner at the Palace of Versailles in France, hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron.

Both Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian signed the document. Trump told reporters simply, “It’s signed.” Iranian state media also released photos confirming Pezeshkian’s signature on the Farsi version of the agreement.

The deal ends active military operations between the US and Iran. It also covers the Lebanon conflict, where Israel had continued carrying out strikes against Hezbollah forces.

One of the biggest wins in this agreement is the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Around 20% of the world’s oil passes through this waterway. The strait had been largely closed since the war began in February, causing global oil prices to spike sharply.

Under the deal, the US will issue oil export waivers for Iran and begin lifting sanctions. Around $24 billion in frozen Iranian assets will also be released in stages, depending on Iran’s compliance with the agreement’s terms.

Iran has committed not to develop or obtain nuclear weapons. However, the final details of its nuclear program will be worked out in a 60-day follow-up negotiation window.

The US and its regional partners have also agreed to develop a $300 billion reconstruction fund for Iran. This will be implemented in the next phase of talks.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif played a key mediating role alongside Qatar in bringing both sides to the table. Sharif confirmed the deal is in “immediate effect.”

Global markets reacted positively. Asian stock markets surged, and oil prices continued to fall toward pre-war levels following the signing.
