Shehbaz Sharif Switzerland Visit: Pakistan Joins US-Iran MoU Signing
Shehbaz Sharif Switzerland Visit Set Ahead of Historic US-Iran Peace Ceremony
Pakistan – (Web Desk) – Pakistan’s advance delegation has arrived in Switzerland ahead of the Shehbaz Sharif Switzerland visit, where Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to attend the signing ceremony of a landmark Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Iran.
The delegation left a day early to handle all preparations on the ground. It includes senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other key government departments.
Foreign Secretary Amina Baloch has also traveled to Switzerland and will join the team before the formal event takes place.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to depart for Switzerland on Thursday. He is expected to be present at the official signing ceremony on June 19.
The ceremony will be held at the Bürgenstock resort in the Swiss canton of Nidwalden. This Alpine venue has previously hosted several major international diplomatic events.
Pakistan has played a central role as a mediator between Washington and Tehran throughout this process. Islamabad worked alongside Qatar to bring both sides to the table and even proposed Bürgenstock as the signing venue.
The MoU is expected to formally end hostilities, reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and launch a 60-day process covering Iran’s nuclear programme and sanctions relief.
While full details of the agreement have not yet been made public, representatives from the United States, Iran, Pakistan, and Qatar are all expected to attend the June 19 ceremony.
