Shaheen’s Seven-For Powers Pakistan Gold to Champions Cup Triumph
MULTAN(Mudassar Iqbal)-Pakistan Gold clinched the **National Champions Cup 2026** title in emphatic fashion on Tuesday, defeating Pakistan Greens by **101 runs** at the Multan Cricket Stadium.
The victory was set up by commanding centuries from **Shamyl Hussain and Saad Khan**, before captain **Shaheen Shah Afridi** produced a sensational seven-wicket haul to dismantle the Greens’ batting lineup.
Batting first, Pakistan Gold posted an imposing **340**. Openers **Muhammad Akhlaq and Shamyl Hussain** gave their side a solid start with a 78-run partnership. Akhlaq departed for 31, while Kamran Ghulam was dismissed for 10, leaving Gold at 95-2.
Shamyl then combined with Saad Khan to revive the innings with a crucial **137-run partnership**. Shamyl brought up his third List A century before being dismissed by Faheem Ashraf for a brisk 111 off 93 balls, featuring 11 fours and four sixes.
Saad continued the assault and reached his second List A hundred. He eventually top-scored with **112 off 102 balls**, including 11 fours and four sixes, with useful contributions coming from Abdul Samad and Mubasir Khan.
Pakistan Greens began their chase positively, with **Omair Bin Yousuf and Fakhar Zaman** putting together 53 runs for the opening wicket. Mubasir Khan broke the stand by removing Zaman in the eighth over.
Yousuf and **Saad Baig** subsequently added 80 for the second wicket, but their dismissals triggered a collapse. Baig emerged as Greens’ leading scorer with **67 off 51 balls**, while Yousuf made 44.
Shaheen Afridi then took complete control of the contest, claiming three wickets in a devastating spell that reduced Greens to 167-6. A 61-run stand between **Faheem Ashraf and Naseem Shah** briefly revived hopes of a comeback.
Shaheen returned to remove Naseem for 31 and then ripped through the lower order in the final over, completing a **hat-trick** and finishing with remarkable figures of **7-36 from 8.3 overs**.
Greens were eventually bowled out for **239 in 37.3 overs**, with Faheem remaining unbeaten on 38.
**Faisal Akram, Razaullah and Mubasir Khan** took one wicket each for Gold, while Naseem Shah, Faheem Ashraf and Shadab Khan claimed two wickets apiece for Greens.
Despite the defeat, Pakistan Greens opener **Fakhar Zaman** was named **Player of the Tournament** for his outstanding performances throughout the competition.
