Pakistan Women Whitewash Zimbabwe After Record-Breaking ODI Series Performance In Karachi
ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Pakistan women’s national cricket team completed a dominant 3-0 whitewash against Zimbabwe women’s national cricket team after securing a convincing nine-wicket victory in the third and final ODI at National Bank Stadium on Saturday.
The series triumph earned Pakistan six important points in the ICC Women’s Championship standings and strengthened their position in the tournament rankings.
Opening batters Gull Feroza and Sadaf Shamas delivered another exceptional performance, creating a new world record for the highest opening partnership aggregate in a bilateral women’s ODI series. The pair amassed 571 runs together across three matches, breaking the previous record held by India.
Their opening partnerships included 162 runs in the first ODI, 189 in the second match, and a remarkable 220-run stand in the final game. Zimbabwe, after winning the toss and opting to bat, posted 222 for nine in their 50 overs.
Beloved Biza led Zimbabwe’s batting with 73 runs, while Kelis scored 51. Captain Nomvelo Sibanda added 35, and Adelle chipped in with 23 runs.
For Pakistan, Tasmia Arbab claimed three wickets, while Syeda Aroob Shah and Ayesha Zafar picked up two wickets each. Momina Riasat also contributed with one wicket.
Pakistan announce squad for Zimbabwe women’s T20I series
Pakistan comfortably chased the target in just 31.5 overs while losing only one wicket. Gull Feroza remained unbeaten on 106 off 92 balls, smashing 16 boundaries and recording her second successive century of the series.
The opener also set a new Pakistan record for the fastest century in women’s ODI cricket, reaching the landmark in only 83 deliveries. Sadaf Shamas narrowly missed her century after scoring an impressive 90 from 98 balls, including 13 boundaries.
Their 220-run opening partnership virtually sealed the victory before Sadaf was dismissed in the 32nd over. Muneeba Ali remained unbeaten and captained the side in the absence of regular skipper Fatima Sana, who was rested along with Sidra Amin.
Natalia Pervaiz was also included in the playing XI. Gull Feroza was named both Player of the Match and Player of the Series for her outstanding batting performances throughout the series.
Following the clean sweep, Pakistan climbed to second place in the ICC Women’s ODI Championship standings. Team officials later dedicated the series victory to Pakistan’s armed forces.
