India U-19 Players Rohit Yadav, Ravi Kumar Banned

New Delhi: (Sports Desk0 – Another age-fraud case has emerged in Indian cricket, with Under-19 player Rohit Yadav and former World Cup winner Ravi Kumar facing two-year bans following discrepancies discovered during age verification.

Leg-spinner Rohit Yadav represented India Under-19 against Sri Lanka last July. He played two matches, claiming one wicket while conceding 94 runs.

Rohit had previously been registered as an 18-year-old. However, an age verification exercise conducted by the Cricket Association of Bengal reportedly uncovered a discrepancy of 27 months in his records.

Following the discovery, Rohit was removed from India’s squad for the upcoming Under-19 series against Australia.

The Cricket Association of Bengal also carried out verification involving dozens of other players. According to the report, action was taken against 64 additional cricketers as part of the process.

Former India Under-19 player Ravi Kumar has also been caught up in the investigation. Kumar, who represented India in the 2022 Under-19 World Cup final, was found to have an age discrepancy of more than 40 months.

Both players are set to serve two-year bans as a result of the findings.

Their age-group records through the 2025-26 season will also be declared null and void, effectively wiping out the affected records from that period.

The latest cases have once again highlighted concerns surrounding age verification in Indian junior cricket, where accurate documentation is crucial for maintaining the integrity of age-group competitions.
