PSL defaulters targeted as PCB tightens financial rules
Notices have been issued to several entities.
LAHORE (Web Desk): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has launched a major recovery drive against defaulters associated with the Pakistan Super League, issuing formal notices to all relevant stakeholders and warning of contract termination if outstanding dues are not cleared within the stipulated deadline.
According to official sources, the PCB initiated the recovery campaign during the 11th edition of the PSL, as billions of rupees reportedly remain unpaid by various parties involved in the league’s commercial structure. After repeated reminders failed to yield results, authorities decided to escalate the matter by enforcing strict compliance measures.
Notices have been issued to several entities, including early PSL franchise stakeholders, instructing them to clear pending dues by April 29. Following the warnings, multiple franchises reportedly deposited their outstanding payments in full.

However, franchises are still awaiting approximately Rs. 400 million each related to their share from the PSL 10 cycle. Officials maintain that payment obligations must be fulfilled under existing agreements, stressing that disbursement to franchises is dependent on receiving funds from other stakeholders.
For PSL 10, each franchise was entitled to around Rs. 975 million as its revenue share. Sources indicate that a major stakeholder still owes the PCB approximately Rs. 4.7 billion, a significant portion of which is linked to PSL-related financial commitments. The stakeholder has reportedly delayed payments citing financial losses, preventing final account settlements.
The issue also affected media rights arrangements for PSL 11. The PCB had initially barred two television channels from participating in the bidding process; however, the eventual rights holder later permitted those same channels to broadcast matches. To safeguard financial interests, the PCB has now secured a bank guarantee from the new broadcaster, which can be encashed in case of default.
