IHC Summons Adiala Jail Chief Over Bushra Bibi Case

Bushra Bibi Visitation Case Prompts Strict Court Orders

ISLAMABAD: (Web Deski) – The Islamabad High Court has once again summoned the Superintendent of Adiala Jail to appear in person next Tuesday, seeking a detailed report on the health condition and prison visitation arrangements of Bushra Bibi.

The hearing was conducted by Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir on a petition filed by Bushra Bibi’s daughter, who is seeking access to her mother’s personal physician and permission for family visits.

During the proceedings, Advocate General Islamabad Naveed Hayat Malik informed the court that the jail superintendent was on his way and requested additional time, stating that there was no immediate urgency in the matter.

However, lawyer Salman Akram Raja, representing the petitioner, argued that the case involved urgent humanitarian concerns, noting that the family has been unable to meet Bushra Bibi.

He further stated that court-ordered meetings scheduled for Tuesday were not being facilitated, while also pointing out that the jail superintendent had failed to appear despite earlier summons.

The Advocate General maintained that the matter should be reviewed in accordance with jail regulations, assuring the court that relevant records would be submitted.

Expressing displeasure over non-compliance, the court ordered the Superintendent of Adiala Jail to appear in person at the next hearing. Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir remarked that failure to comply could result in the issuance of arrest orders to ensure his presence.

The superintendent’s repeated absence despite court summons led the bench to reissue strict directives for his appearance in the upcoming hearing.
