Pakistan, Singapore Mark 60 Years of Diplomatic Ties with Sufi Qawwali Evening

SINGAPORE (Web Desk): The Pakistan High Commission Singapore, in collaboration with Esplanade Theatre, hosted a special Qawwali evening titled “At the Feet of the Beloved” to commemorate 60 years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Singapore.

Held at the Esplanade in Singapore, the event drew a large and diverse audience, including members of the diplomatic corps, business leaders, art enthusiasts, the Pakistani diaspora, and the general public, highlighting the wide appeal of Pakistan’s cultural traditions.

The evening featured a performance by renowned Qawwals Rizwan and Muazzam, nephews of the legendary Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Their powerful renditions reflected the centuries-old Sufi musical heritage and captivated the audience.

Speaking on the occasion, High Commissioner Rabia Shafiq emphasized that Qawwali, rooted in Sufi teachings, represents a deep expression of love, harmony, and spiritual devotion. She noted that such cultural initiatives help build bridges between nations and strengthen people-to-people connections.

On the sidelines of the event, the High Commissioner also hosted a reception for diplomats and distinguished guests.

The evening not only celebrated a milestone in bilateral relations but also showcased Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage, reinforcing its commitment to enhancing ties with Singapore through cultural diplomacy.
