Venezuela Twin Earthquake Leaves Nation in Shock

VENEZUELA – (Web Desk) – Two powerful earthquakes hit Venezuela one after another, and the venezuela twin earthquake has left hundreds dead and thousands missing across the country. The disaster struck on Wednesday evening, shaking the capital Caracas and nearby coastal areas.

The first quake measured 7.2 in magnitude. Less than a minute later, a stronger 7.5 magnitude quake followed. It is the strongest earthquake to hit Venezuela since 1900, according to the US Geological Survey.

Health officials confirmed around 235 people dead. A website tracking missing persons listed over 46,000 names shortly after the disaster. Rescue teams are working around the clock to find survivors trapped under rubble.

La Guaira, the coastal state near Caracas, suffered the worst damage. Acting President Delcy Rodriguez declared it a disaster zone. Around 70,000 families in the area were affected. The main airport in Caracas was closed after suffering heavy damage.

Many people are sleeping on the streets after losing their homes. One resident, Pedro Perez, said he lost both his home and his business. Families are waiting for food, medicine and clean water.

Countries around the world are sending help. The United States pledged 150 million dollars in aid and deployed rescue teams. SpaceX Starlink announced free internet service for affected areas to help restore communication.

Rescue efforts continue as aftershocks keep rattling the region. The full death toll is expected to rise in the coming days.
