Schools Reopen from April 1 as KP Introduces New Timings
The new policy also emphasizes character-building alongside academics
PESHAWAR (Web Desk) – Educational institutions across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are set to reopen from April 1 after nearly three weeks of holidays, with students—especially juniors—returning to physical classes under a newly announced schedule.
Under the revised timetable issued by the provincial government, primary schools will operate from 7:30 a.m. to 1:35 p.m., marking a shift in the daily routine of students and teachers alike.
The new policy also emphasizes character-building alongside academics. Morning assemblies have been made mandatory, focusing on moral training, student speeches, and interactive activities aimed at developing ethical values from an early age.

In a move to promote literary and cultural engagement, schools have been directed to hold a weekly “Bazm-e-Adab” session on the last working day of each week. The final three periods of that day will be reserved for staff meetings and the completion of school records.
The notification further addresses teacher shortages, directing school heads and subject specialists to take classes in case of staff absence or long-term leave to ensure uninterrupted learning.
District Education Officers have been instructed to strictly enforce the new guidelines, reflecting the government’s push to improve discipline, educational standards, and cultural awareness in public schools across the province.
