Punjab Schools Reopen Monday After Three-Month Summer Vacation Across Province

ISLAMABAD: (News Desk) – Children across Punjab are set to return to classrooms as schools reopen on Monday, August 24, following a three-month summer break.

All public and private schools and colleges across the province officially began their summer vacations on May 22, 2026, as authorities sought to protect students and teachers from intense heat.

Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat announced the extended summer break on May 11, saying educational institutions across the province would reopen on August 24.

The announcement came amid a prolonged spell of hot weather, with temperatures expected to remain high across several parts of the country.

The extended holidays provided relief to students, teachers and families as extreme temperatures affected daily routines and raised concerns over the health and safety of children.

In April, educational institutions in Punjab had already been advised to adjust their operating hours or consider announcing summer holidays earlier because of the intense heat.

With the summer break now over, students are preparing to return to schools across Punjab, including Lahore, as the new academic routine resumes.
