Iran Claims Downing US Jet, Pentagon Denies

Iran US Clash Extends To Information War Claims

TEHRAN: (Web Desk) – Iran has claimed that it successfully shot down a U.S. fighter jet, specifically an F/A-18 Hornet, but the United States has firmly denied the allegation.

According to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the aircraft was brought down during recent hostilities, and state media even released a video it says proves the incident. The footage has since circulated widely across social media platforms.

However, the U.S. military’s United States Central Command (CENTCOM) rejected the claim outright, stating that no American aircraft had been targeted or downed by Iranian forces.

U.S. officials suggested that the claim could be part of an ongoing information war, where misleading or unverified content is used to shape public perception during conflict.

Analysts note that alongside physical fighting, both sides are increasingly engaging in narrative battles—promoting their own successes while challenging the credibility of the opponent’s claims.

It is important to note that the video released by Iranian media has not been independently verified, and tensions in the region continue to escalate with ongoing strikes and conflicting statements.
