Rain Forces Abandonment of Pakistan–New Zealand T20 World Cup Super 8 Match
COLOMBO: (Web Desk) – The Pakistan–New Zealand match in the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup was abandoned due to persistent rain in Colombo on Saturday.
With torrential downpours preventing any play beyond the toss, both teams were awarded one point each. Pakistan won the toss and chose to invite New Zealand to bowl first, signaling a confident approach from Captain Salman Ali Agha. However, the rain made it impossible for the match to proceed.
This match was the first of Pakistan’s Super 8 fixtures, and the rain disruption has left both teams in a tricky situation in terms of advancing in the tournament.

Team Changes:
Fakhar Zaman was included in Pakistan’s playing XI in place of Khawaja Nafi, bolstering the batting lineup. On the other hand, New Zealand made three changes to their squad for the match, although the rain delayed any opportunity to see those changes in action.
Despite the disappointment of the match being called off, both teams will focus on their upcoming fixtures as they look to secure a place in the next round of the competition.
