QAU Students Continue Protest Over Hostels, Facilities
Quaid-e-Azam University Students Protest Over Hostel, Welfare Facilities
ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Students of Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) continued their protest for the second day on Tuesday in Islamabad after negotiations with the administration failed. The protesters, who staged an overnight sit-in at Pindi Point, vowed to continue until their demands for improved accommodation and welfare facilities are met.
The students are calling for the construction of new hostels, citing severe overcrowding and insufficient services, including basic medical facilities. Talks on January 12 between QAU Vice Chancellor, SP City, a magistrate, and student representatives failed to reach an agreement.
“The hostels lack proper facilities, and even the medical centre doesn’t provide essential services,” said the chairman of the Pashtun Student Council. The students demanded either new hostels within the university or accommodation facilities from the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to meet growing needs.

Addressing reports of vandalism, the students denied involvement in puncturing tyres of two or three buses, accusing the administration of spreading misinformation. They urged stakeholders to advocate for increased funding for QAU to address longstanding infrastructure and welfare issues.
