ECP to Hear Case Against KP CM Afridi

The ECP has granted the Chief Minister exemption from appearing in person.

Islamabad (Web Desk) – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is set to hear a case tomorrow concerning an alleged threatening speech by the election staff of NA-18 Haripur during a public gathering in Haveliyaan. The notice pertains to a possible violation of the Code of Conduct by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, Sohail Afridi.

The ECP has granted the Chief Minister exemption from appearing in person. In this case, the Commission has already raised objections to a plea seeking dismissal of the matter as non-maintainable. In the previous hearing, the Commission directed CM Sohail Afridi’s lawyer to refile the request.

Additionally, the ECP instructed Afridi’s lawyer to submit a Power of Attorney. The petition was filed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Babar Nawaz, requesting action against Chief Minister Sihail Afridi for violating the Code of Conduct.
