Putin Backs U.S. Ceasefire Plan, Warns Ukraine of More Territorial Gains

The Russian president also noted that the American document contains several clauses open for negotiation.

MOSCOW: Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced his support for a U.S.-proposed peace plan aimed at securing a ceasefire in Ukraine, confirming that several key Russian demands have been incorporated into the proposal.

Putin warned that if Ukraine refuses to accept the agreement, Russia could seize additional territory, similar to its recent capture of the Ukrainian city of Kupiansk. He stated that other strategically important areas could also come under Russian control if Kyiv rejects the offer.

The Russian president also noted that the American document contains several clauses open for negotiation. Putin conveyed a message to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, saying that the 28-point U.S. peace plan could serve as the basis for a final settlement to end the conflict.
