Patel Hospital Hosts CME Session on Paediatrics and Paediatric Surgery at Health Asia 2025

Karachi: Patel Hospital organized an informative Continuing Medical Education (CME) session on Paediatrics and Paediatric Surgery during Health Asia 2025, one of Pakistan’s largest international health and medical exhibitions and conferences, held at the Karachi Expo Centre. The session provided an engaging platform for healthcare professionals, students, and experts to exchange medical knowledge and insights.
The CME session was graced by the presence of Deputy Medical Director Dr. Shah Masabat Saleem, Director of Communication and Resource Development (CRD) Mr. Farhan Asadi, and Director Operations Mr. Muhammad Siddique. It was moderated by Dr. Maryam Zafar, while Dr. Shah Masabat Saleem opened the event with welcoming remarks. In his address, Dr. Saleem introduced Patel Hospital’s wide range of healthcare services and reaffirmed its dedication to delivering compassionate, quality medical care. He also highlighted the hospital’s welfare programs that ensure access to treatment for underprivileged patients.

Dr. Taimoor, Consultant Paediatric Surgeon, discussed the scope and significance of paediatric surgery, emphasizing timely interventions to prevent complications in children.

Dr. Jalal Akber, Senior Consultant Paediatrician, spoke on “The Importance of Vaccination in Children: Protecting Our Future”, underscoring vaccines’ vital role in disease prevention and addressing challenges in promoting vaccination awareness.

Dr. Azmina Khan, Consultant Paediatrician, highlighted the importance of nutrition during childhood, emphasizing breastfeeding, balanced diets, and proper nutrition at different developmental stages. She also raised concern over the growing trend of smoking among teenagers, terming it a serious public health issue.

Dr. Noureen Iqbal, Senior Registrar, concluded the session with a presentation on Paediatric Asthma Management, outlining effective strategies and equipment used to improve outcomes for children with asthma.
The CME concluded with a shield distribution ceremony to honor the speakers and moderator.
