Engineer Khalid Mahmood announced that IESCO is working to instill a 100% safety culture across all operational levels.
Islamabad — The Chief Executive Officer of Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO), Engineer Chaudhry Khalid Mahmood, has reaffirmed the company’s commitment to ensuring the safety of its line staff and consumers, emphasizing that the prevention of electrical accidents remains one of IESCO’s highest priorities.
In a public statement addressing safety measures, the IESCO chief described human life as a precious gift from Allah Almighty, underscoring that safeguarding it is a shared responsibility. He stressed that all line staff must adhere strictly to established safety protocols and use protective equipment—including rubber gloves, boots, safety belts, helmets, face shields, beepers, and other gear—while on duty.
“No work on electrical lines should begin until the line is confirmed to be fully earthed and de-energized from both ends,” he instructed. “In cases of bad weather, the work must be postponed altogether.”

Engineer Khalid Mahmood announced that IESCO is working to instill a 100% safety culture across all operational levels. He directed Chief Engineer (Operations), Muhammad Kashif Shah, to launch safety awareness campaigns and conduct training seminars for field staff to reinforce safety consciousness and reduce risks.
He noted that many tragic incidents—some resulting in fatalities or lifelong disabilities—occur due to overconfidence or negligence in following safety procedures. “We cannot afford to be careless. Saving a single life is akin to saving all of humanity, as per the Holy Quran,” he said.
The CEO also extended a safety advisory to IESCO consumers, urging them to maintain a safe distance from electrical infrastructure such as poles, wires, and transformers, and to ensure that their home wiring systems are regularly maintained. In the event of an emergency or electrical hazard, he encouraged the public to contact their local SDO office or call the IESCO Helpline 118 immediately.
IESCO continues to implement robust safety protocols and raise awareness to minimize workplace hazards and electrical mishaps, demonstrating its unwavering dedication to the protection of both staff and the wider community.
