214 Schools in Sindh District Declared Unsafe After Floods
The department has instructed the Education Department to immediately shift students and teachers to alternative facilities for their safety.
KARACHI: In Sindh’s Jamshoro district, the future of thousands of students hangs in the balance as 214 school buildings have been declared unsafe following heavy rains and floods.
According to the Education Works Department, these buildings are now in such poor condition that they pose a serious risk to both students and teaching staff. The department has instructed the Education Department to immediately shift students and teachers to alternative facilities for their safety.
Out of the affected institutions, 172 are primary schools, while 42 are higher secondary boys’ schools, together accommodating more than 10,000 students.

Despite the official warning issued days ago, classes are still being held in the same crumbling buildings, exposing children and staff to life-threatening dangers.
Local residents and parents have appealed to the government to act swiftly, stressing that urgent measures are needed to relocate students and ensure their education continues in a safe environment.
