Punjab approves new posts to strengthen special education institutions provincewide

LAHORE: (Staff Reporter) – The Punjab government has decided to expand the administrative and technical capacity of its special education sector by establishing new units and creating additional posts in the Special Education Department.

According to official details, the department will set up an IT Wing, a Strategic Planning Wing and a Monitoring and Evaluation Unit to improve planning, technology integration and oversight across special education institutions.

The government has approved a new pay package for the proposed positions and agreed to relax the recruitment ban in the Special Education Department. The process for filling the posts will begin after approval from the Finance Department.

A total of 41 new positions have been approved to support children with special needs. These include 13 posts for the IT Wing, eight for the Strategic Planning Wing and 20 for the Monitoring and Evaluation Unit.

The newly created positions are aimed at strengthening management, technical support and service delivery within special education institutions across the province.

Preparations are also under way to further improve facilities at 304 special education institutions in Punjab, benefiting around 41,000 children with special needs.

Officials said the new units would help improve institutional planning, monitoring systems and the use of technology, ensuring better educational facilities and support services for special children.
