Islamabad (Special Correspondent/Web desk) – Pakistan has officially approved its first National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy, a milestone moves aimed at transforming the country’s economy and technology sector. Officials say the policy could create three million jobs in the AI industry by 2030 and boost the national GDP by 7 to 12 percent.
Complete Roadmap for Safe and Smart AI Growth
Federal Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima said the new policy provides a complete roadmap for AI development, focusing on both economic opportunities and safe, responsible use of technology. She stressed that the initiative will help Pakistan compete in the global AI race, attract foreign investment, and strengthen its domestic tech ecosystem.
The policy outlines plan to promote AI education, innovation, research, and business adoption across sectors like healthcare, agriculture, finance, and public services. It also highlights ethical guidelines to protect privacy and security while encouraging creativity and global partnerships.

Partnership with Romania to Boost Tech Opportunities
In a related development, Federal Minister for Science and Technology Khalid Magsi met with the Romanian Ambassador to Pakistan to discuss deeper cooperation in science and technology. Romania has invited Pakistan to join European funding programs, which could open new doors for research, innovation, and technology exchange.
Magsi noted that Romania is emerging as a key IT hub in Europe and is keen to strengthen ties with Pakistan in the digital sector. He called the collaboration a gateway to advanced training, investment, and global market access.
With the approval of the AI policy and expanding international partnerships, Pakistan is positioning itself as a future-ready technology leader, aiming for sustainable growth, high-skilled jobs, and a stronger role in the global digital economy.
