Zardari Hails Ziauddin Hospital as Transformative for Sukkur

SUKKUR: President Asif Ali Zardari reiterated his commitment to continuing the Bhutto family’s legacy of serving the nation and its people during the inauguration of Dr. Ziauddin Hospital’s Sukkur campus. Speaking at the event, the President emphasized the family’s dedication to improving the socio-economic welfare of Pakistan, particularly in the healthcare sector.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by prominent figures including Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Ahmed Bugti, Dr. Asim Hussain, provincial ministers, MNAs, MPAs, and members of the hospital’s management. The event marked a significant milestone in the region’s healthcare development.

President Zardari praised the establishment of the state-of-the-art Ziauddin Hospital in Sukkur, describing it as a transformative initiative for the city and surrounding areas. He commended Dr. Asim Hussain and the Ziauddin Hospital management for their efforts in bringing modern healthcare facilities to an underserved region. The hospital is equipped with cutting-edge technology and staffed by skilled professionals, which will greatly enhance medical care for the local population.

Reflecting on his personal role in encouraging the establishment of the hospital, President Zardari stressed the importance of such projects in elevating healthcare standards across the country. He also announced that the Sindh Government would fund the creation of a university at the hospital campus, further bolstering educational opportunities in the region. Additionally, the President revealed that he had donated personal land for the construction of another Ziauddin Hospital campus in Hyderabad.

The President also highlighted the ongoing development of the Rohri Canal, with Rs 15 billion allocated annually for the project, funded by carbon credit revenues. He emphasized that this initiative would support infrastructure improvements and economic development in the region.

President Zardari honored the legacy of Dr. Ziauddin, a member of the Central Legislative Assembly before Pakistan’s independence and a close associate of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He noted that the Bhutto family continues to carry forward his commitment to public service.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah also lauded the establishment of Dr. Ziauddin Hospital in Sukkur, calling it a significant addition to the province’s healthcare network. He praised the Ziauddin Network for its ongoing contributions to healthcare and education in Sindh and expressed hope for the expansion of similar institutions in cities like Hyderabad.

The Chief Minister announced plans for a new road linking the hospital to Sukkur Airport, which will further improve access to the facility. He also welcomed Dr. Asim Hussain’s announcement of plans to establish world-class schools in Sindh, assuring full cooperation from the provincial government.

The inauguration of Dr. Ziauddin Hospital in Sukkur marks a major step in improving healthcare access for the region, providing local residents with access to world-class medical services and furthering the Bhutto family’s long-standing commitment to public service and social welfare.
