Two Chinese Nationals Shot and Injured in Karachi Amid Rising Security Concerns

Incident Follows Previous Attacks That Prompted Beijing to Demand Increased Protection for Citizens

Two Chinese nationals were shot and injured on Tuesday in Karachi, Pakistan’s commercial hub, as reported by police and hospital officials. This incident comes amid a series of attacks that have prompted Beijing to call for enhanced security measures for its citizens.

Faizan Ali, a senior superintendent of police, confirmed that the two Chinese individuals were shot, although he did not share further details. A spokesperson from Liaquat National Hospital indicated that both individuals were receiving medical treatment, with one in critical condition.

According to Aaj News, the gunfire was reportedly unleashed by a security guard. It remains unclear who orchestrated the attack or whether it is connected to militant activities.

In October, a bombing near Karachi’s international airport resulted in the deaths of two Chinese engineers, an incident claimed by the separatist militant group Baloch Liberation Army (BLA).
