Islamabad: (Web Desk) – The 9th of Muharram is being observed across Pakistan with religious devotion and reverence, as mourning processions are being held in cities and towns nationwide under stringent security arrangements.
In Karachi, the main mourning congregation will be held at Nishtar Park at 10:00 a.m., where renowned religious scholar Allama Shehenshah Hussain Naqvi is scheduled to address participants. Following the gathering, the central procession, led by the Pak Haidri Scouts, will depart from Nishtar Park at 1:00 p.m.
The procession will pass through its designated routes before concluding at Hussainia Iranian Imambargah in Kharadar. Mourners will also offer Zuhrain prayers in front of Ali Raza Imambargah on M.A. Jinnah Road during the procession.
Authorities have sealed streets and alleys connected to the procession route with containers, while markets and shops located along the route have been closed for three days as part of security measures.

Trained security officials equipped with binoculars and modern weapons have also been stationed on high-rise buildings. The Bomb Disposal Squad will complete security clearance of the route before handing it over to the administration.
Police have advised citizens to use alternative routes, as both tracks of M.A. Jinnah Road from Guru Mandir to Tower remain closed due to the procession.
Apart from Karachi, 9th Muharram processions are being held in Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and numerous other cities and towns across the country, with several processions already underway.
