England Reach Semifinals After Beating West Indies

LONDON: (Web Desk) – England booked their place in the semi-finals of the Women’s T20 World Cup with a convincing 38-run victory over the West Indies at Lord’s on Wednesday.

A superb innings from Danni Wyatt-Hodge provided the foundation for England’s success, as the opener scored 65 runs from 42 balls to guide the hosts to a competitive total of 186-7. Former captain Heather Knight also made an important contribution with 43 runs.

Chasing a challenging target of 187, the West Indies struggled to keep pace with the required run rate and eventually finished on 148-5 from their 20 overs. An unbeaten half-century from Chinelle Henry offered some resistance, but the Caribbean side never seriously threatened England’s total.

The victory marked England’s fourth consecutive win of the tournament and secured their place in the final four despite the absence of injured captain Nat Sciver-Brunt.

Wyatt-Hodge struck eight boundaries during her impressive knock before being run out in an unfortunate mix-up. Her innings laid the platform for England’s strong total, which proved beyond the reach of the West Indies.

A key moment in the chase came when West Indies captain Hayley Matthews was controversially dismissed for 14. England successfully reviewed an on-field not-out decision for a caught-behind appeal, and despite debate over the UltraEdge replay, the third umpire ruled in England’s favour.

Matthews expressed visible frustration with the decision before leaving the field. Without their captain at the crease, the West Indies batting lineup quickly lost momentum and slipped to 69-4.
