Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang’s saying, “If you love China, love Pakistan too” shows the spontaneous and meaningful importance of love for Pakistan. These days, celebrations are being held to mark the 75th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations between Pakistan and China, which is the heartbeat of the people on both sides. Pakistan not only recognized the country that became independent as a result of a long march led by Mao Zedong in 1949 in the early days, but also established an embassy in Beijing in 1951 and made supporting China at every forum at the global level a part of its diplomacy. When India faced border disputes and war problems in 1962, Pakistan fully supported China. This act proved to be an important step towards the maturity of Pak-China friendship and China also nurtured this friendship and supported Pakistan in every way during the Indo-Pak wars of 1965 and 1971 and fulfilled the right of true friendship with the full support of its friend. The role that China played in supporting Pakistan in this war turned it into an ideal friendship. Since then, the two countries have stood by each other in every difficult moment. Only then can the Pakistani Prime Minister, together with his people, proudly say that the Pak-China friendship is higher than the Himalayas and deeper than the seas.
The foundation of relations between the two countries is based on mutual respect and cooperation, non-interference and common interests. China has always supported Pakistan’s sovereignty and integrity at the international level, while Pakistan has strongly supported China’s position on the issues of Taiwan, Tibet and Xinjiang. The two countries are seen together in every forum, not only in economic but also in economic and diplomatic matters.
China has planned to build several mega projects in Gwadar, which will prove to be extremely beneficial for both countries. China wants to make Gwadar a central port for Pakistan, Iran, Central Asian states and China itself. This is why China has planned various projects for the early settlement of Gwadar, including several projects to generate electricity from coal, solar and wind. Pakistan will get billions of dollars in revenue from the implementation of Gwadar Port, in addition to abundant resources and employment.
China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) CPEC is the greatest masterpiece of friendship and economic development between the two countries and this sustainable partnership will open more doors for development in the future. Under this project, major projects such as infrastructure, energy, and the construction of Gwadar Port have been completed, which has created new opportunities for employment and prosperity in the region.
Undoubtedly, the CPEC project is the best example of Pak-China friendship and a unique project of the present era, which will connect China and Pakistan with Europe and other countries. The completion of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project will not only make Pakistan economically strong and prosperous, but will also be a strong line of defense for Pakistan. According to the estimates of international economists, this project will benefit not only Pakistan, but also about three billion people in South Asia and Central Asia. The closed doors of regional trade and investment will open and all the countries located in the vicinity will get economic benefits and thus the largest market in the world will be created, which will prove to be the basis of regional stability and prosperity.
The relations between the United States and China were tense, which improved with the continuous efforts of Pakistan and the then US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger visited China at the request of Pakistan. Thus, the relations between the United States and China began to improve and China began to gain a place in the international community. China got a permanent membership of the United Nations and China got the right to veto power in the United Nations. Due to this role of Pakistan, Pakistan’s prestige in the eyes of China has increased greatly and recently US President Donald Trump also visited China. Pakistan has assisted its friend in establishing and strengthening relations with many other countries.
China has upheld its friendship with Pakistan at every opportunity and at every stage. When almost the entire world was against Pakistan in order to prevent it from making atomic bombs and becoming a nuclear power, China not only supported Pakistan but also provided all possible assistance despite all opposition and threats. China assisted in the manufacturing of tanks and aircraft in Pakistan, due to which Pakistan’s arms manufacturing industry has developed a lot. In addition, China is fully supporting Pakistan in various defense projects. The Sendak project, the Gwadar Port project, the supply of railway engines are innumerable such projects in which Pakistan has received full support from China, due to which Pakistan and China are bound in a relationship of friendship that has no precedent. The people of Pakistan pray that this relationship of friendship becomes stronger and stronger.
