26th Constitutional Amendment Becomes Law After NA’s Overwhelming Support
On the other hand, National Assembly opposition leader Omar Ayub criticized the amendment, calling it an effort to “undermine” the judiciary. Speaking during the early Monday session, Ayub mentioned cases like the disappearance of Intezar Panjotha and the abduction of Riaz Fatyana’s son twice, questioning why the amendment couldn’t wait until October 31. He argued that the amendment draft should have been referred to the standing committee on law and justice, adding that the special committee’s role wasn’t utilized properly.
