US and Iran Launch Fresh Strikes as Ceasefire Hangs by a Thread
Fresh Strikes Between US and Iran Put Fragile Ceasefire at Serious Risk
US vs Iran – (Web Desk) – US and Iran launch fresh strikes, pulling the region deeper into dangerous territory as hopes for a lasting peace deal continue to fade fast.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard said it hit an air base in Kuwait, calling it a direct response to earlier American attacks on Iranian military sites. State media confirmed the strike, naming a Kuwaiti base as the target.
Washington struck first this past weekend. US Central Command said its aircraft hit Iranian radar systems and drone control stations in Goruk and on Qeshm Island. The Pentagon said the move came after Iran shot down an American drone flying over international waters.
Both sides are still technically under a ceasefire brokered back in April. But the agreement is holding on by a thread. Talks to extend it by 60 days have stalled, with no breakthrough in sight.
President Trump posted on Truth Social that Iran “really wants to make a deal.” He urged Americans to stay calm, saying things would “work out well in the end.” However, a White House meeting on Friday ended without any formal announcement.
Oil prices felt the heat right away. Brent crude jumped 3.2 percent to $94 a barrel. West Texas Intermediate rose 3.6 percent to $90.50. Markets are clearly watching every move.
The proposed deal on the table would see Iran reopen the Strait of Hormuz and commit to not building nuclear weapons. In return, the US would ease sanctions and lift parts of its naval blockade. Trump reportedly sent the draft back to Tehran with changes, facing pushback from within his own Republican Party.
On another front, Israel pushed deeper into Lebanon, ordering mass evacuations and striking Beirut’s southern suburbs. Iran’s foreign ministry said any peace agreement must include a ceasefire in Lebanon, making the path to a deal even harder.
With midterm elections approaching, Trump faces pressure to cut fuel prices and show results. The clock is ticking on all sides.
