Upper Dir School Reunion Brings Tears, Laughter and Forty Years of Memories Back to Life

Upper Dir – (Special Correspondent/Web Desk) – The Upper Dir school reunion turned into an emotional homecoming on the evening of 26 July 2026, as former students gathered once again within the grounds of District Council Public High School. For many, it felt like time had paused just for them.

The air that evening carried the scent of childhood. Grown men, some with grey hair and tired eyes, stood before the teachers who once shaped their lives. Hugs replaced handshakes. Tears replaced words.

This was not just another get-together. It was a heartfelt attempt to return something time had quietly taken away — that first lesson, that first gentle scolding, and that first word of encouragement from a teacher who believed in them.

A Dream Built With Sleepless Nights

Behind this beautiful evening stood a small group of dedicated organizers who worked tirelessly for weeks. Engineer Tariq Babar, President of the Alumni Association, led the effort with quiet discipline, making sure every guest felt welcomed from start to finish.

Professor Wajid Raza brought the vision to life, designing certificates, shields, and invitations with real artistic care. Sadiqullah handled hospitality with warmth, while Sahibzada Mazharuddin added a poetic touch through his moving speeches.

Others, including Mufti Nisar, Nigar Hussain, and Shah Khalid Khan Hamdani, played important roles too. Hamdani, who joined efforts from the United States, was honored for his media work, and his children proudly received the shield on his behalf.

Several more names — Zakirullah Safi, Inayatullah, Rashid Ahmed, Asif Iqbal, Asad Iqbal, and Arshad Khan — worked quietly behind the scenes, handling logistics and support that made the event possible.

The evening began with a moment of silence for three beloved teachers who have passed away — Ustad Buzurg Ahmed, Ustad Habibullah, and Ustad Fazl Subhan. Their sons received honorary shields on their behalf, and the crowd fell silent in respect.

More than 25 retired teachers were welcomed with flower garlands and the traditional caps of Dir. Among them was former Principal Sahibzada Fazlullah, whose trembling voice captured the emotion of the night.

He told the crowd that the same children who once played in his hands now stood before him as doctors, engineers, and professors. His words moved everyone to tears.

A Night Poetry and Music Made Unforgettable

Poetry and songs added deep emotion to the evening. Mazharuddin’s verses, Gul Ahmed’s ghazal, and Suhail’s naat gave the gathering a spiritual and heartfelt tone that lingered long after the applause faded.

Students bowed before their teachers, kissed their hands, and shared old memories over dinner as the sun set behind the school grounds. For a few hours, everyone was young again.

As the evening came to a close, teachers left with prayers on their lips, and students walked them to their cars with heavy hearts and grateful smiles. The Upper Dir school reunion had done what few events can — it repaid, even briefly, a debt that words alone could never settle.
