Trump Qatar Air Force One Plane Unveiled at Andrews
Trump's Qatar Air Force One Plane Gets Bold New Look
Trump – (Web Desk) – Trump’s Qatar Air Force One plane made its grand debut on Friday at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland. President Donald Trump personally inspected the upgraded Boeing 747, gifted by Qatar, as it prepared to join the official presidential fleet.
Qatar offered the luxury jet last year. Defence contractor L3Harris Technologies overhauled the aircraft. The plane now wears a striking red, white, dark blue, and gold colour scheme personally chosen by Trump.
The upgraded jet gives the president, his staff, security team, and travelling media a more modern and comfortable ride. However, the cost of the overhaul has not been made public. Some aviation experts have raised concerns that the fast-track conversion may not meet the full security standards of existing Air Force One aircraft.
Air Force Secretary Troy Meink assured the public that every safety requirement was carefully reviewed. He said the safety of the commander in chief remains the highest priority.
The Qatari plane will serve as a temporary bridge aircraft. It fills the gap while Boeing works on two purpose-built 747-8 jets under a $3.9 billion contract signed in 2018. Those planes are now four years behind schedule, with delivery expected around mid-2028.
Democratic senators estimated the jet’s conversion could cost over $1 billion. They also raised security concerns about the speed of the process.
Trump also announced plans to visit Turkiye and China in 2026. He added that Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected to visit the United States in September.
