Trump Putin G20 Summit: Putin May Be Invited to Miami in December

Trump Putin G20 Summit: Will Russia's Leader Accept the Miami Invitation?

G20 Summit – (Special Correspondent / Web Desk) – The Trump Putin G20 Summit talk is heating up. The US plans to invite Russia’s Vladimir Putin to the G20 leaders’ summit in Miami this December. The event will be held at Trump’s own Doral golf resort.

What Did the US Say?

The State Department made it clear. Trump wants Russia at the table. A senior official said Russia will be invited to all G20 meetings. But no formal invite has gone out yet.

Trump spoke from the Oval Office. He said he did not know about any invitation. But he did not oppose it either. “If he came, it would probably be very helpful,” Trump said.

Will Putin Actually Come?

That is the big question. Putin has skipped the G20 in person since 2019. First, COVID kept him away. Then came the Ukraine war in 2022. After that, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant against him for war crimes.

The Kremlin was careful with its words. Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia always attends at the right level. He added that a decision will come closer to the date.

Trump has been trying to build a better relationship with Putin. He believes that friendship can help end the Ukraine war. Last summer, Trump invited Putin to Anchorage for ceasefire talks. Nothing was agreed. The war has now lasted over four years.

The G20 includes 19 major economies plus the EU and the African Union. Ukraine is not a member. It only attends sometimes as a guest.

Hosting the G20 at Trump‘s own resort raised eyebrows. Critics say foreign governments will pay money to a business Trump owns. Trump has brushed off that concern.
