Islamabad Continues Facilitating Peace Talks Between Washington And Tehran

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – US Vice President JD Vance has acknowledged Pakistan’s role in diplomatic efforts that contributed to a recent peace understanding between the United States and Iran, praising Islamabad’s contribution toward regional stability.

Speaking during a meeting with Asim Munir and Shehbaz Sharif on the sidelines of technical-level discussions in Bürgenstock, Vance said Pakistan played an important role in supporting peace efforts in the Gulf region.

Vance also conveyed that Donald Trump and members of his administration hold positive views about Pakistan. The meeting also included US officials Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, while senior Pakistani foreign ministry officials were part of the delegation.

The interaction began on a cordial note, with the Pakistani leadership welcoming the US vice president through a warm exchange and friendly gestures.

Meanwhile, technical-level talks between the United States and Iran commenced in Bürgenstock under the framework of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding. Representatives from the US, Iran, Pakistan, and Qatar participated in the discussions focused on advancing commitments made under the agreement between Washington and Tehran.

At the venue, the flags of all four participating countries were displayed as officials worked toward maintaining diplomatic progress.

Pakistan’s Foreign Office reiterated that Islamabad would continue playing a facilitative role in the negotiations. Officials said Pakistan’s goal is to help sustain an environment of dialogue and reconciliation while supporting long-term peace and stability in the region.
